a nostra buona fortuna!
OK, my TV situation is even more out of hand than usual this year. I've got to learn to reel in the crazy:

GREY'S (PREMIERE): WELL, SHIT. They so didn't have to kill Mark! He could've just been really injured and then...like, gone off somewhere for long-term rehab, IDK. He was never my fave, but I adored his friendship with Derek and especially Callie, and HELLO, they had a kid, and I am sick of terrible things happening to Callie because she is my spirit animal [along with Cristina]. :( I knew Arizona wasn't dead because they were saying-it-without-saying-it and that always means some shenanigans on this show, but I thought maybe she had brain damage and didn't recognize anyone or something. But no! When she dramatically flung back the covers I was just like "oh, show, this is why The Soup makes fun of you," but I admit I'm interested to see how it plays out. And UGH WHY IS APRIL BACK. Losing her, Teddy and Lexie in the finale was like the best thing that ever happened to me. And Derek and his hand-angst is exactly what I was afraid of in the finale. Lord.

ONCE UPON A TIME (PREMIERE): Don't have much to say because my interest in this show remains really very shallow, but YAY for Mulan and her awesome "love is for children, I owe him a debt" friendship with Phillip...? So hoping she's not really in love with him too, because that's a little lame. Hooray for adorable Belle/Rumpelstiltskin (though gurl, exact words!) and awww @ all the reunions, especially Red & Snow, but REALLY, Henry? "She's still my mom"?? After all that malarkey last season? I guess it's sweet, but...really. And WOW PLOT TWIST at the end there with Snow & Emma falling into the hat--well, I like the idea of those two bonding while Henry & Charming hang out; that's cool. Also moar Jefferson and Sidney and Red and Grumpy and Michael Raymond-James, please (are we guessing he's Gold's real son? And can he please bring along his sexy "True Blood" Cajun accent? Thx). Also LOL, dementors.

BOARDWALK: GO MARGARET GO. Her badassness is reaching astronomical heights--though now I am getting worried that we're headed for a romance with Dr. Mason, which is kind of blah. I am loving tormented!Nucky against my will; his insecurity and saving-people-thing is fascinating to watch because Steve is such a boss, and because symbolic!PTSD!nightmares is a fave trope of mine, for reasons I'd rather not understand. Lucy wasn't lying, he is "a soft touch for the charity cases" and that's what he thought Billie was at first, but now he's realizing that she really doesn't need him all that much, and he likes to feel needed. Very interesting. Go, Van Alden, get some! I so love that he's actually enjoying a sex life with Sigrid now and not getting all freaky and Bibley about it. Growth! I would happily watch an entire episode--nay, an entire SEASON--of the Bugsy Siegel Has Two Daddies Show, because I love it so much. Is that the first time we've seen Meyer shoot someone? Sneaky second-fave! And wow @ the Gyp/Gillian stuff--she SO knows Jimmy's not "getting back" any time soon, but she's playing it close to the vest until the opportune moment because that's what she does. "Then you don't have anything" was the first sign that she's actually been privately mourning him; I could definitely see her slow-knifing Nucky and teaming up with Gyp to do it. (Oh man, when he dropped that cigarette. I KNEW that was, like, Chekhov's Gas Pump!) Which brings me to my darling Richard: first of all, I was FREAKING O U T when he was behind the bar fiddling with the bottles, since that jives quite magnificently with my fic, and then I was legit bouncing when he ambushed Mickey (HOW anyone could want him dead is beyond me; he's such a great game-player and he's fucking hilarious. "You need to talk to him!") and dragged him off to Nucky--but while I had quite mixed feelings about their conversation, we talked it out at Tumblr and now I like it. Full thoughts are at my blog (read emerald__city's post first), but the short version is that while I don't think he'll ever truly be over Jimmy's death, he accepts that Nucky was following the "rules" of the game in killing him (whereas Manny was not with Angela) and is willing to make peace with him--and maybe even ally with him later--if that's what it takes to protect Tommy from the likes of Gyp & Gillian, as he will probably have to do. Mostly I just LOVE TakeCharge!Richard; he's no one's "man" anymore. Awesome. And Nosferatu, by the way! AND FOURTH SEASON FUCK YEEEAH

BESSSST

HOMELAND (PREMIERE): Hooray, Carrie's back in the game! Her smile was just wonderful. I sincerely hope we're not turning Jessica into ~The Bitch Wife~, though--while I strongly disliked her "Muslim = terrorist" attitude, I do understand her anger & confusion at his converting to the religion of the people who tortured him (and not telling her). Interesting that he couldn't explain to her as he did to Carrie why he felt he needed the comfort of it when he was trapped over there, which even I, grumpy and non-religious as I am, totally get. And let's be fair, in this case she's kinda right; he is working with terrorists, but not for the reason she thinks. I love the moral grays between them and I really hope they keep the balance there. That's not quite how Quaker Meetings work, especially not in a high school (you're kinda supposed to think about it and share more than just a brief sentence, and you're supposed to wait a bit after someone speaks to stand up yourself--we call those "popcorn meetings," when many people talk--and it's really not supposed to be a debate, especially about war stuff), but the emotions rang true and it was fun just to see her school; a reference to Sasha & Malia's school, I assume. And I did like Dana bonding with her dad, surprisingly. I actually totally bought that Brody would be in line for VP even without experience; people would love that on principle and PR-wise it's totally a smart move. And more Saul/Carrie scenes, plz, they are my fave.

bb

DEXTER (PREMIERE): DAMN, AFRICA, YOU DID THE DAMN THING. How amaaaaaazingly happy am I that they didn't suddenly turn Deb into an idiot who could just overlook all the incredibly obvious evidence? SO. HAPPY. How I love her. I really didn't think we'd lay everything out THAT clearly this soon, but I am so glad. I was waiting for her to notice the telltale slice on Travis' cheek and make the connection with the BHB (I've always thought that was a foolishly revealing habit of his), but I'm sure we'll get there. Doakes shoutout!! (Apparently I have to yell "SURPRISE, MOTHERFUCKER" at the TV when he's mentioned. Good to know.) Killing off Mike like that was LAME AS SHIT, however--what was the point of bringing him on?! I have to assume they just ran out of ideas for him, as they did for Maria Doyle Kennedy's nanny. To do that once is a tragedy, twice looks like carelessness. >___________> Unless they pull a "Covert Affairs" and have his death awesomely ripple-effect out over the season. ...But it kinda can't, since Dexter killed Enver Gjokaj already (hay boo!), which was like the dumbest thing he's ever done--that and his whole "I need to be in control" thing makes me think we're in for a Walter White-like spiral of hubris and douchebaggery, and I am so HFT. Kinda worried that we're doing Dexter Gets Discovered, Ukrainian Titus Pullo (HAY BOO!), Yvonne Blonde Lady Killer and Creepy Hand-Mailing Lab Assistant (who canceled his credit cards...?); that seems like too much for one season. But if LaGuerta becomes awesome again I may forgive it. And I liked the back-pedaling on the Batista/Quinn breakup, and ESPECIALLY the Joey-and-Rachel-like undoing of the Deb-loves-Dexter awfulness. REDACT IT!

#screaming

COPPER: Not much to say except WOW, they made Annie's storyline even darker, holy shit. Corky really needs to just be a sweet, sane, non-SVU-like dad to her now. Not sure what to think about Elizabeth and Morehouse hooking up, unless it's part of his Master Plan, though he certainly seems to have one. Sad!Maguire is winning me over like crazy (DAT ACCENT), and I still want more development for Eva, since I really want to love her. ExtraDark!Corky was strangely encouraging, though--I'm totes fine with the ladies being shady & messed-up as long as the boys are too. But really I just want to brag that I made a gifset of that delightful "the dentist poisoned himself?" comedy bit from last week, and the episode's actual writer happily reblogged it and said it was a "career goal" to be gif'd and I was like ERR MAH GERD I'M FERMOUS. Tare an'ouns!

DOWNTON: Welcome to Edith Crawley's life, where everything's made up and her feelings don't matter! Holy shit, that was cruel. We were all rooting for you, Strallan! ...Well, most of us. I was, anyway. Shit. Well, at least Mrs. Hughes is okay (awwwwwww forever @ Carson singing merrily about it) and yay for the money problems being solved, I guess, but WHY DIDN'T THEY JUST SELL THAT SECOND HOUSE? Or some of their other land?? Am I just being a dumb Yank and not getting something?! I know the entire show is #richpeopleproblems and that's fine, but this was just too much. I'll tolerate it if we don't have to hear Matthew wangsting about Lavinia anymore, though (but I still say that's a terrible way to start a marriage; is she going to go "AFTER ALL, YOU DIDN'T WANT TO SAVE US, BITCH" every time they have an argument now?). The fact that Lavinia wrote a letter that we never saw or heard about...well, I felt like the Church Lady: how conveeeeenient! But, okay, fine. And I'm sorry, Molesley, but trusting Thomas? AGAIN?! If you really still don't know that Lucy's gonna yank that football away, then you deserve to fall on your ass. Lord hammercy. But the O'Brien/Thomas breakup still makes me sad. :( And what was Bates hiding in his cell? Was that a shiv or something? Also, Sybil remains queen:

REVOLUTION: All I have to say is MARK PELLEGRINO!! My love! WITH A SWORD! Being sarcastic again! ("This is sooooo dramatic.") ! Fitting, as it's Kripke & Jaybrams, but delightfully unexpected. I still really only care about Charlie Swan, Gus Fring and Juliet Burke, though both Charlie & Danny Took Levels in Badass last night and Aaron also gave me slight feels (Marvin Gaye!), so they can stay. Cute show is cute, in its way. (Oh, and I totally noticed that the actor playing Monroe was a fake American--we say "a thousand miles away," not "a thousand miles away." Boom, Sherlocked!)
EDIT: And it got a full season order!

Saw Looper on Friday and I liked it a lot, though I didn't quite love it--basically it felt like it was two movies to me, sort of; Joe being a killer and chasing down his mark, and the find-the-Chosen-One time-travel stuff. Obviously they were related, but they felt quite disjointed at times. And I admit I got a little bogged-down in the time-travel details, particularly Seth's fate. [Spoiler (click to open)]First of all, oh my FUCKING GOD, that was horrifying (though clever). Jeff Daniels said they couldn't just kill Young Seth because it would mess up the future too much, but didn't doing that to him fuck up his future too?! They were keeping him technically alive on machines, right? But, like, how...? DDDDDD: I dunno, man. And then what about after Old Joe escapes, when [Spoiler (click to open)]we return to the scene and Young Joe does close his loop and get the gold? Then he goes on and ages and we get the montage of "year 10" and whatever, and he marries the woman and so on--so that was one 'version' of events? In one timeline he kills him and in one he doesn't...except, like, Old Joe already knows what happened because he was there...except none of that did happen because Young Joe always killed himself in the field at the end; there never was an Old Joe because whatever happened, happened. So we were just seeing various possibilities? I DON'T FUCKING KNOW, MAN. And WOW, did I ever learn that I have a strong personal aversion to devil-children in fiction, especially if they're weirdly precocious. I just found everything about Cid incredibly unnerving and off-putting and just NOOOO THANK YOU. The kid was an excellent actor and all, but...yeesh. And besides, 'kill the evil guy before he becomes evil' NEVER works anyway, shit. And for a second I thought Cid was Young Joe, somehow, and the whole thing, er, looped around and he created his own enemy or...whatever. Ye gods. Also, most random and kinda pointless sex scene(s) ever, though I ain't really mad (though, Bechdel fail). Fun and certainly thought-provoking, I just wish the story-telling was a little tighter.

Also saw Seven Psychopaths last week and LOVED it; my 'proper' review will be up on the 11th. Finished Anna Karenina and really only liked Dolly & Kitty by the end; I was somewhat surprised at the rather cold-hearted abandonment of Anna's story after she died. Suddenly it was the Levin Has Many Feels Show all over again and...ugh, I mean, he had some interesting moments, but I had very little patience for his self-indulgent agonizing ("Define me! Oh, define me! Love me, I need love!") by the end. But I'm looking forward to the film anyway. Am ~200 pages into The Casual Vacancy and I really like it--I know people are saying it's boring, but that's what I like; it's a real intimate character study and kinda reminds me of Zadie Smith. Though I cannot get used to Jo saying "cunt" and talking about Rihanna. It's awesome, but I cannot.

All of part eight wasn't needed; he could've just switched perspectives from Anna's death to Levin/Kitty on the estate. They are adorable.

He walked along the path towards the skating-ground, and kept saying to himself "You mustn't be excited, you must be calm. What's the matter with you? What do you want? Be quiet, stupit," he conjured his heart. And the more he tried to compose himself, the more breathless he found himself. An acquaintance met him and called him by his name, but Levin did not even recognize him. He went towards the mounds, whence came the clank of the chains of sledges as they slipped down or were dragged up, the rumble of the sliding sledges, and the sounds of merry voices. He walked on a few steps, and the skating-ground lay open before his eyes, and at once, amidst all the skaters, he knew her.

♥ That's why I like Levin. :D

They had their sweet moments early on, but I didn't like his totally baseless jealousy and his endless, obsessive doubts--and frankly, the fact that he was vaguely considering suicide at the end there because of his religious whateverness after seeing how much Anna's death fucked up her family/friends' lives is kind of appalling. Like, way to think of Kitty and your damn kid. But I guess it ended happily enough. :P

AM I GOING TO GIVE YOU ALL MY OUAT FEELS? YES I AM! :D

I really hope Mulan isn't really in love with Phillip or at least as nothing more than a partner but I'm afraid that's the route they're taking. I JUST WANT GIRLFRIENDS. Bellle and Rumpelstiltskin my babiiiiieeeessss I LOVE THEM SO MUCH.

Honestly Henry wanting to save Regina wasn't a surprise or OOC to me. Last season while he may have called her the Evil Queen and all, he still also called her Mom and held her hand and none of it really seemed to hit him until he saw her there about to kill his grandfather? He was raised by her after all. idk I think Henry's gonna have some trauma after all this as an adult. XD

And yes, the guy at the beginning is totally Baelfire as well as Henry's father. At least that's what we're all guessing! And he didn't even say anything but I kept hearing the Cajun accent omg. I LOVE HIM ALREADY TBH.

I really need to catch up with Homeland dkfjghjkfdg and omg yay I want to see Seven Psychopaths. How was Sam Rockwell? I JUST ADORE HIM OKAY. And I watch other shows you do obvs but just have too many OUAT feels rn. XD
extraordinary machine.: TV - Once Upon A Timela_petite_singe on October 3rd, 2012 06:52 pm (UTC)
Aurora and Mulan teaming up would be awesome! I'm sad Phillip got...soul-sucked or whatever, but my fave kinds of shows are the ones that have romance and friendships, flirty and non-flirty alike, and this show's pretty good @ that so far, so I say keep it up! *salute*

People have complained that the show handles the adoption thing weirdly, and sometimes I agree--like, I don't think it's saying all adoptive mothers are ~not real~ and only bio parents count or whatever, because obvs in this case she literally is an evil queen and all. But it's still a bit weird to present it the way they have. I think in the finale we saw that Regina really does care about him in her imperfect, selfish sort of way, so if they play that out over the season, the two of them still having mother/son feelings for each other despite the curse being broken and all, I shall be very impressed indeed.

I DON'T EVEN WATCH TB AND I WANT DAT ACCENT BAD. I have an appalling weakness for Cajuns and I heard it once and was like YES GOOD MORE OF THAT PLZ. (Er, what happened to August, btw? Did he get fixed when the curse broke? Goddammit, I should've watched the recap thingy, esp. since it was narrated by Giancarlo.)

Homeland was awesome; that show is fab. Sam Rockwell was AWESOME; probably the best part, and that's really saying something. I'm still delighted by that movie. :DDDDD

I have no doubt Phillip will be coming back (after all, he didn't die) and so I just hope they handle it pretty well when he does because I'm always wary of love triangle. Yay for friendships though, I definitely want more!

Yes, same. I would love to see them expand on their relationship more. Lana apparently did an interview and said she and Henry would be having some good, emotional moments but couldn't say when or what the context was. I'm looking forward to it all though!

RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT. He was really enjoyable on TB and I am just elated he's on my beloved OUAT now! I really, really hope he's Baelfire and Henry's father. As for August, we're not sure yet but we do have confirmation we'll be seeing him again and that he still has story to be told so I can't wait because I miss him desperately! I'm actually wondering if it was August who sent Mystery Man the postcard - because if it is Bae, August clearly knew enough about him to be able to imitate him soooooooooo idk. WANT TO KNOW EVERYTHING.

YAY GOOD. I just adore Sam Rockwell. :D

Very interesting turn of events last night, with her letting Henry go back to David so she wouldn't turn into her mother and all--is that going to last, or will she go back to thinking she's the best one to raise him? And to be fair, she hasn't done too terrible of a job so far. Yeah, she did all kinds of evil stuff behind his back, but she was a pretty good mom to him. If anything redeems her, I still thinking it'll be him.

We saw August last night too!! ...Kind of, for two seconds! I WILL TAKE IT. No Bae, though. :P This happens with so many of my shows; there are just way too many gr8 characters to show them all in every ep. But I so like the idea that he & real!Bae are working together in some shady way. ALSO HATTER HOORAY
Anya: once upon a time → belleerethesunrises on October 9th, 2012 03:27 am (UTC)
I agree! Honestly, I could also see them going the route at the end of the series where she dies because she sacrifices herself for Henry and finally also getting that redemption. Last night was definitely an intense episode, though still not sure how I feel about it.

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. I'm having Issues with how they're handling (or not handling) Belle rn. And from a logical standpoint too! I just really think Bae and August should have at least met in the real world. It would make sense!

ALSO. GIRL. So I'm kinda losing interest in Boardwalk and it's dfjghdf breaking my heart. I haven't watched the last couple episodes. WHAT'S GOING ON WITH MARGARET. AND OWEN. AND NUCKY. AND LUCKY. Okay. Got my characters covered. Sell them to me.
extraordinary machine.: TV - Boardwalk Empire - Margaretla_petite_singe on October 9th, 2012 04:42 am (UTC)
Last season I thought it was going to come down to Rumpel vs. Regina and one of them would have to side with everyone else in order to win (because I was thinking of Ben vs. Widmore because EVERYTHING IS ALWAYS LOST), but now I'm not so sure; both of them have their sympathetic angles. Maybe there'll be another Big Bad? Crazy Cora's back!! That was a gr8 twist, gotta say.

So, okay, Rumpel was freaking out because he heard that crossing the town limit makes you lose your memory again, and he was planning to escape with Belle (and now can't)? Do I have that right? D:

AHHH NO DON'T IT'S STILL WONDERFUL I SWEAR. BB SHOW OF MY HEART and all that. Mags is being a badass and promoting a women's health clinic and shocking nuns by saying horrifying words like "vagina." People think she's gonna hook up with this doctor guy, but I'm not so sure. Owen...well, shit, if you want something to lure you back into the show, the opening scene of this week's ep oughta do it; he's in bed with Katy and it's charmingly graphic. :D He also kinda had this great bottle episode thingy with Nucky this week--they were trapped in a basement, basically--and he was talking about Ireland (y'know, again) and memories of blowing shit up and whatnot. Nucky took another level in ruthlessness this week, but is also still having major Jimmy Feels and dealing with guilt--OH AND there's this fucking amazeballs scene with Richard from last week, ohmygah. It's great. And I still love Billie, his mistress lady. And Lucky is still starring in the best sitcom ever, the Bugsy Siegel Has Two Daddies Show, which is SO FABULOUS, but he also had an extremely Italian and surprisingly feelingsy sit-down with Masseria this week. So everyone's quite busy. The heartbreaker this week was Al, though, forreal. ;______; I DON'T KNOW WHY I'M SO ATTACHED TO THESE CRAZY-ASS PEOPLE OKAY

but I am~~~
Anya: once upon a time → rumpel and belleerethesunrises on October 10th, 2012 04:34 am (UTC)
Yeah, I didn't realize Cora would be coming back like this (and I still think she became the Queen of Hearts). Some of us side-eye the Blue Fairy pretty hard (not for being evil but just having her own agenda - like telling Bae the only way to save his father was the bean, did she not know about true love's kiss or???).

Basically! Well, idk if he would have taken Belle with him (though I'm sure he would have with Regina still being alive) but mostly it was about finding Bae but now he can't do that without a) leaving Belle and b) keeping his memory to even remember what he's doing.

.................. OKAY YOU CONVINCED ME. I WATCHED THEM. It's still such a high-quality show, I just... dfkjghjkfdg I don't feel as excited as I used to? I miss rooting for Nucky and now it's really hard for me to do so. BUT AT LEAST MARGARET IS FLAWLESS. idk if I ship her and Owen but I want more of them, at least bonding over Ireland. (Remind me: did Nucky find out they had slept together and what was the fall-out from that?) AND LUCKY IS AMAZING ALWAYS OKAY. Al totally got me this week dfkghdkfg ;____________;
extraordinary machine.: TV - Once Upon A Timela_petite_singe on October 10th, 2012 06:41 pm (UTC)
OOH QUEEN OF HEARTS, I like that. Man, the fact that I am totally dumb about this show does lead to lots of pleasant surprises, gotta say.

But--okay, this is an amazingly dumb question and you're gonna wonder why you even talk to me--Gold/Rumpel always knew who he was, didn't he? He & Regina both did? Because, like, they caused the curse? So he can't take Belle out of Storybrooke without her forgetting, but he won't, will he...? But someone already thought of that and has summoned RealBae to the town, I guess, with that note...I really need to pay more attention, good lord.

Part of me wants to hate Nucky so hard, but I just can't because Steve's so damn gr8 and is giving him so many layers and so much conflict. But yeah, I mean, to be fair, it took a sharp turn @ the end of last season in many ways. No, Nucky does not know about Margaret & Owen sleeping together, and I don't think he's going to find out simply because the tension just kinda doesn't work there, writing-wise--like, it was legit two years ago at this point; to have it be a big ~dramatic reveal would fall flat. Now, if they do it again...and I don't really ship them either, but I like the tension between them (not to mention the fact that she BIT him when they were doin' in the first time and he was totally into it. HOTTTT OMG) I love love love Charlie & Meyer and everything about them, and Al always gives me feels. And of course my Richard. And hell, even Eli. And now Chalky's daughter is suddenly awesome! And I even like Billie. I JUST LOVE ALL OF THESE PEOPLE SO MUCH OKAY

...but yes, it's a bit hard to deal with such an anti-hero; this is the problem on like all of my shows ;)
Anya: actress → emma stoneerethesunrises on October 12th, 2012 05:17 am (UTC)
HEE DEFINITELY. I just don't wanna spoil you on anything! I'm addicted to discussing and theorizing about this show so. XD

If Gold leaves Storybrooke, he'll lose his memory too. He only got his memory back when Emma came to town and met her for the first time at Granny's Inn — that's why he was so struck by that meeting and seemed so intrigued by her. So technically he had been cursed for 28 years too. This is why when he uses "please' on Regina soon after this, she's so surprised. Yeah, and this is why he's so frustrated because he can't go looking for Bae now and he obvs has no idea Bae was summoned (if Mystery Man is Bae which he better be).

UGH. The thing is, I loved rooting for Nucky up until this season but idk it feels like that's getting harder and harder to do. Steve is amazing though, I will always give him that. Fuck, he is so fantastic. I guess I wouldn't mind if Owen and Margaret hit the sack again? I want to see her really get some pleasure and satisfaction for herself without any guilt which is why I love how gung-ho she is right now. I LOVE HOW MUCH YOU LOVE THEM ALL. TRULY. :D

Boardwalk:

1º I'm so happy for Margareth. My baby is back!!!!
I think that lady in the airplane really inspired her. YAY for this, I'm so excited for her! And about her relationship with the doctor I hold your hands and I expect not as you. However I hate to admit that I prefer him to Owen. idk why, don't ask.

2º I made a post on Boardwalk Empire's community on the last episode (2º) about how Nucky has been touched by Jimmy's death and how this could affect him and now this! So many feelings. When he asked Richard about killing I said to myself;
-Oh Nucky but you didn't kill a "stranger" like Richard. (idk but I guess)
Anyway, I agree with you about his relationship with Billy (I hate her so much) I think he just wants to be necessary as always because Margareth is already emancipated (metaforically speaking) so he's looking for another soul to save. And this will help him to sleep at night.

Van Alden!! My God how much I love this man and his scenes. I don't think he's going to continue with this life's style for so long, when that man asked him money to get him free I think it gave him so many feelings about the time that he used to be on that position and how honest he used to be (at least on the beginning)

Homeland:

The part when Carrie smiled was one of my favorites. I felt so bad for her in the entire episode, seeing how she was struggling with herself to go on. And I felt so bad for her as teacher because she is so fucking good to do that. No preconception at all.

Brody/Jessica**
She was totally right when she yelled at him but the more interesting thing IMO was when she connected Brody to what Carrie said to her on the day of the attack. I was wondering if she connected the points like Dana made on that day. Btw I have to admit that I liked Dana on this episode (I used to hate her last season)

The question still remains. Who's infiltrate on CIA helping Abu Nazir?! I suspect everyone.

PS: I hate Estes so much, I just want to punch him in the face sry.
extraordinary machine.: TV - Boardwalk Empire - Margaretla_petite_singe on October 3rd, 2012 07:00 pm (UTC)
I still cannot decide how I feel about Owen. His whole 'represent the motherland!' routine with Mags seems like such a cheap ploy to win her over, and yet Charlie Cox is playing it totally straightforward; I actually totally believe his sincerity in "Peg of Old" when he gave her the sad "everything's off here" speech. And hell, he's still hopeful and flirting with her after A YEAR AND A HALF. That does seem to suggest he wants something more than just sex. But I still don't really trust him. >______> IDK. (Though "are you mine to command?" remains one of the hottest things I've ever heard, holy balls.)

I'm really, really glad we're seeing Nucky troubled over Jimmy's death--it would be dumb to make the entire season about him, but it was a huge event and I'm looking forward to seeing how it affects all of the separate characters: Nucky's plagued with doubt, Richard's becoming more take-charge and independent, Gillian may work with Gyp to bring Nucky down, etc. I like that his death is serving as a plot device and also, like, an emotional focal point.

I can't tell if Van Alden's genuinely growing to like his new life or if he's going to miss being in power too much. Clearly something's going to happen either with Al and/or with him getting found out (...did he & Al ever meet back in AC/Chicago? I don't think so...), but in a weird way I want him to be happy. I know no one's ever happy on this damn show, but he's so strangely cute with his new family!

I pretty much always automatically hate kids/teens on TV, but people told me that Dana would become more relevant & interesting by the season's end, and she definitely did. I love the idea of her bonding with Brody over his feeling of alienation and all that. I refuse to accept that Saul is evil, nope nope nope. Could be Estes!

I like Owen but not with Margareth. I mean, their dialogues like you pointed were very good but I think in my mind I'll always see her as Mrs Thompson and it bothers me that he wants to mess with her (even assuming that his intentions can be good).

Van Alden didn't know Al and honestly if they could join themselves together I would be in heaven tbh

And about Dana, she already had a fundamental part last season. If it wasn't for her, Brody would had his attack, she and her annoying call stopped everything. But I also like her bonding with his father (even thinking that she's boring sometimes) because in my head the only thing that can stop Brody is his family. And Carrie.

I still want to know if Richard & Owen are going to meet up or at least encounter one another again. Interesting that Owen wasn't there when Richard stormed his office (btw, do any of these people lock their doors?? Richard's just sitting there in Mickey's house, he barges into Nucky's place...or maybe he's just awesome). His loyalty's sort of up in the air, I think, so IDK what's gonna happen, but I like it.

They had that awesome moment in the flower shop in the premiere, and there's gotta be a reason he settled in Cicero, so I have big hopes for that. :DDDD

Brody's relationship with his family is so complex now since he's found himself, like, secondary family members (Nazir was like a father to him; Issa was like his son; Carrie was almost like a wife) and I guess he's gonna have to choose. I love that. I hope the son gets to do something too, though.

LOL Richard is really awesome, don't you would leave your door open to him?! xD

Btw, did you bought his speech for Nucky? That Jimmy was a soldier and bla bla bla
Idk maybe is just my paranoia talking^^

I have big hopes for Van Alden too and I also want to see him being happy, in his awkward way <33

I thought about it a lot and I think Richard may literally be the ONE character on the show who doesn't lie basically ever, let alone all the time. He does these crazy violent things like everyone else, and yet he's totally honest about it. Which is pretty fascinating. So yeah, I bought that--I don't think he'll ever not be sad about Jimmy, but I think he saw it coming, and I think he knows Jimmy made his own choices. And I certainly don't think he'd ever hurt Margaret or the kids; that's way outside the 'rules' and that's what Manny did. If Nucky did something else crazy & hurt someone who was innocent, then Richard might change his mind, but for now I doubt it. He's got a code and all. I just wonder if he's not going to have to actually team up with him later. D:
elcristina: margarethelcristina on October 8th, 2012 07:21 pm (UTC)
I thought about that too. I don't think Richard would hurt Margareth only I can think about is him with Nucky but maybe you're right... We'll have to see it.

And OMFG for last night's episode, I have so much on my mind, I'll send you a PM =)

i quite enjoyed Looper but it fell into the usual time-travel fiction traps. like they all do. ah well.

oh GOD i almost DIED when i saw Michael Raymond-James in OUaT. I WANT HIM IN IT ALWAYS WITH A SEXY ACCENT!!

Watching Lost ruined my life, esp. Hurley and Miles' conversation in "Whatever Happened, Happened." Because, like, it did! Unless the whole point of the movie was to deconstruct those ideas...oh, I dunno.

I AM GLAD WE'RE ALL OF ONE MIND ABOUT THAT. \o/ OK, so it kinda wouldn't make sense for Bael to have a Cajun accent, but y'know what, it doesn't make sense that young August doesn't have Eion Bailey's brilliantly blue eyes, either. If we're gonna suspend disbelief, let's suspend that bitch!!

I am glad in Dexter that they are not selling Deb. short.

I hope that Dexter can keep his control. Part of what I liked about him was that he was mostly controlled, even with his Dark Passenger there.

It's very hard for me to get into Revolution, though I am still letting it grow on me.

I like devil children because they always seem so creepy. It is the perversion of innocence.

I still want to see Seven Psychopaths. It looks hilarious.

That's true; he's "a very neat monster," as he says. But now that he's being challenged by the person who knows him best...I'm not sure how he's gonna react, but it's not gonna be good, man.

I was kinda hoping Revolution would be better, but I'm still enjoying it in a superfluous sort of way. It's a good, fun Monday show after all my Sunday craziness. ;)

The kid in Looper is a freakishly good actor, but that's what made it worse. I just...gah, creepy. Maybe it's a subconscious thing. I dunno.

It really is. The poster/trailer is a little misleading; it's way more snarky & meta than you'd think. But that just makes it better. I highly recommend it. :D

Oh I totally can see Dr. Mason and Margaret hooking up. I called that during their first scene together. I just have a feeling it's headed in that direction. I mean if Nucky can have his women on the side I say Margaret should go after Owen (again) and not some sleazy doctor...

My fav scene was when Richard ambushed Mickey too. I love how he got pissed that Mickey was taking the credit for Manny and Richard didn't like that. I still do not like the conversation Richard and Nucky had. The writers dropped the ball on that. They clearly wanted a safe and easy "out" or reason as to why Richard won't gun down Nucky and co. but it seems out of character and convoluted to me.

Welcome to Edith Crawley's life, where everything's made up and her feelings don't matter! :( Poor Edith! I just wanted to smush her and make her happy!
I think everyone in the DA fandom was questioning why the Crawleys didn't just sell the second home and all their other apparent abundant land...The plot lines in DA are always a bit iffy and I'm kind of glad the "is Downton going to be sold?" one is over.

I love Molesley so much. Sometimes I feel like the only one but yeah, he def should not have trusted Thomas!

I'm still sad over the O'Brien/Thomas breakup too.

I'm really glad I'm not the only one that didn't really love Looper. I mean it was enjoyable but I def agree that it was trying to be two different movies and it was confusing and disjointed at times too.
I was scratching my head at times. It def wasn't what I was expecting. I was expecting more sci-fi, time traveling and less human interest story.

They definitely have a bond now, but there's no real heat like there is with Owen. So I can't tell if we're going for a friendship thing or what, but it's nice to see a man who actually cares about women's issues, even if he is condescending about it. Loved that scene last night with the nun. :D

I did get the impression that the writers had an 'oh crap, why isn't Richard going after him, since he was there and totally knows the truth?' moment; I've written myself into corners like that too, ngl. But to be fair, I think he knew it was coming--"you know he'll never forgive you" in the finale and all that, and I think he saw the way Jimmy accepted it himself and set his affairs in order before going off to die. It's still incredibly sad, but he had a year and a half to ponder the matter; my headcanon is that for a while he did consider killing him and had feelings of grief and everything, but then over time he realized that killing Nucky would be outside of his 'code,' sort of, and more importantly it would probably get him killed and then Tommy would be alone with Gillian, which is not a good thing, etc. But I certainly don't think he'll ever be entirely at ease with the matter.

Okay, good, glad I'm not crazy about the Crawleys and their land there. When they just casually mentioned having ANOTHER HOUSE I was like "wait, what?! Seriously??" These crazy kids.

Yeah, the trailers and stuff for Looper really didn't hint at any of the stuff with Sara and the Rainmaker and any of that very much; it seemed to just be sci-fi assassinations and whatnot. I kinda dug both stories, but not as one continuous movie. Oh well.

Totally agree with you on every word of Grey's! Why do they keep fucking with Callie? Enough is enough. The show is so frustrating to me now and I hate April, but I'll keep watching if for nothing else than that last scene when they're Skyping and doing tequila shots together and Alex joins them... I'm just here for Mer and Christina.

I DON'T KNOW and it makes me mad because she's awesome. D:< And poor Sofia! April is the legit worst and I can't believe we're bringing her back, but I am totally in it 'til the end for the friendships and Callie and Cristina and very occasional awesomeness. >______________>
